Dr. Laurens Ganzeveld is Assistant Professor at the Earth System Science - Climate Change group of Wageningen University and Research Centre and affiliate of the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry. His research expertise is surface and boundary layer exchange of reactive trace gases and aerosols in atmospheric chemistry and the Earth system. He applies local-scale chemistry-climate models to support and evaluate field campaign measurements for contrasting regimes, e.g. tropical forests versus the Greenland icesheet, and applies global-scale models to assess the role of surface and boundary layer exchange in global chemistry-climate interactions, e.g. the role of land use and land cover changes in atmospheric chemistry and climate. He is also lecturer on a selection of BSc and MSc courses in Earth system sciences.

Research Interests:

Dr. Laurens Ganzeveld main interest is the role of surface reactive trace gas and aerosol exchanges in atmospheric chemistry and climate. This includes:

  • Dry deposition process
  • Biogenic emissions
  • In-canopy interactions
  • Role of micrometeorology and hydrology in atmospheric chemistry
  • Cryosphere-atmosphere and ocean-atmosphere exchanges
  • Impact of land cover and land use changes in atmospheric chemistry and climate
  • Extensive evaluation of surface exchanges using field observations and 1-D and 3-D models
  • Publications:
