Research Interests:
Caradee Wright is a Principal Researcher at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research in the Climate Studies, Modelling and Environmental Health Research Group, leading the environmental health research team. She holds a PhD in Public Health from the University of Otago and an MSocSc in Geography and Environmental Management from the University of Natal. Her research focuses on personal solar ultraviolet radiation exposure, personal dosimetry, health risk assessment and skin cancer prevention. She also works in the field of air quality, air pollution analysis and air quality management in finding ways to integrate public health into air quality management.
Caradee works in the broader field of environmental health, leading large epidemiological, cross-sectional community surveys to consider the impacts of environmental pollution on community health and develop appropriate interventions. Caradee is a member of the South African Young Academy and was co-chair of this organisation from 2011-2013. She is a member of the Global Young Academy, Vice-President of the National Association for Clean Air, Co-Editor of the Clean Air Journal and Founder of the Environmental Health Research Network (www.ehrn.co.za). In 2012, Caradee was named by the Mail and Guardian as one of the top 100 young South Africans for her efforts to establish a SunSmart Research Programme and Lab in South Africa (www.ehrn.co.za/sunsmart).
